This series of paintings forms, as it were, Krabbé’s response to the nine paintings he made prior to these about his grandfather who was murdered in the Second World War: The fall of Abraham Reiss for which we also designed the catalogue. The children’s drawings, the photos, and of course the many memories in his mind, manifested themselves in what can perhaps best be described as an autobiography of his youth in the form of paintings.
