The vision of the late Golden Age

The multi-talented, artist and chronicler of the late Golden Century Romeyn de Hooghe (1645-1708) made controversial news- and satirical cartoons and illustrated a wide range of books. Additionally, he produced wall and ceiling paintings as well as designing triumph arches, gardens, glass windows, trophies and medals.


Collaboration between the Rijksmuseum, the Amsterdam City Archives, Amsterdams Centrum voor de Studie van de Gouden Eeuw and the Bijzondere Collecties.
