For six years Tel Aviv-based photographer and artist Iris Hassid followed the day to day life of four young Palestinian women, who are part of a recent surge of the young generation of Arab female students attending Tel Aviv University. In close collaboration with the girls, Iris shows their difficult position in Israeli society. She illustrates their self-confidence and rejection of their depiction in the media as second-rate citizens through portraits and interviews. We tried to enhance this in the book by emphasizing significant quotes from their interviews in large type.
