Collecting contemporary art demands courage and a vision. With their purchases of the then unknown artists such as Mondriaan, Chagall, Sluijters, Jawlensky, Isaac Israels, the art collectors van Wezel, Beffie and Slijper have proven their keen eye for talent. Their magnificent collections were reconstructed and formed the focal point of the exhibition.
The book provides a rare glimpse of the world of modern art collecting and the role of the Jewish bourgeoisie in the Netherlands between 1885 and1940.
